Piano, Drums ... and of course Guitar
Multi-instrumentalist from Cologne, Germany, currently living in New York.
At the age of 8 piano lessons, then since the age of 12 preferred without notes.
At age 11, start as youngest member of high school band on drums.
At the same time drastic music-influencer change from Mozart to Deep Purple.
As an influence follow until today all the famous names that have shaped the development of the electric guitar since Hendrix, from Blackmore to Vai and Satriani to the prog rockers Rush, Dreamtheater and Spock’s Beard etc …
Consequently start with 12 years on acoustic and electric guitars.
With the high school band „Stopschild“ tours through northern Germany.
Subsequently member of the three-piece formation „Ugly Ulcer“, consisting of keyboard, bass and drums, which stands out less for its fixed song material than for its sprawling improvised performance.
Later member of the blues rock bands „Bad Taste“ and „No More Whiskey“ in Cologne, West Germany.
Despite band involvement on drums, the electric guitar always remains the focus of musical development. Be it in jam sessions or as a multi-instrumentalist composing, arranging and recording numerous „Guitar-Songs“.
In the middle of the 2010th beginning of the development of the project „Tillmann“, which is planned together with the bass player Michael Müller from Cologne and several computer generated drum avatars as a MultiMedia concert show with animated background story.
Recently interruption of the work on the above project.
Since then further recordings, either jammed out of spontaneous motives or as more elaborate arrangements with „dialogues“ between keyboards and guitar, accompanied by crisp bass grooves up to sensitive piano.
Since 2022 jamming the resulting „guitar songs“ with the formation „Bigwater“ in New York, consisting of Tom Racioppi (bass) and Anthony Licata (drums).

Stefan Eling lives from drawing. From time to time he also creates some animated films, for which he composes and records the music.
